The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said that when someone leaves his house and says the accompanying supplication, it is then said to him, "You are guided, you are guarded and you are protected." The shaytan then turns away from him.
Before we leave our homes, it is very important to remember the words of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him). He taught us that saying this dua guides, protects and preserves us. The angels will accompany us and the devil will turn away from us.
The hadith and the dua are mentioned in At-Thirmidhi (5/490) and in Abu Dawud (4/325) and is sahih. The hadith has been narrated by Anas ibn Malik.
